“We spent 12 weeks in Alyssa’s Bradley class preparing for a drug-free labor and home birth. The curriculum is very thorough and focused on making sure you are able to apply the material (even during the most hormone filled hours of your life). There was homework every week, followed by in class learning and activities to ensure retention. We enjoyed sharing our prenatal journey with other couples and hearing other birth stories.
One of the things we really appreciated was that there were additional learnings aside from the birth experience. Alyssa went through some techniques that could be used to invert babies that were positioned “head up” late in the pregnancy, relaxation, nursing, teething, baby carrying, and more. She is a wealth of knowledge, candidly shares her own experiences, and is very well connected in the community. Her guidance in creating a birth plan (in case we had to go to the hospital instead of our planned homebirth) was invaluable… especially when we DID end up in the hospital when my water broke four weeks early. Alyssa was there with us as our doula as well and she was fantastic in guiding both of us. Even though we had studied hard, she still spotted things that could help labor progress. We highly recommend her class and her doula services and will be using her as our doula for future births as well!
Thank you Alyssa for all of your investment in families in our community!”

“Birth, labor, and delivery is a frightening process, certainly for a family, but especially for the dad. Don’t get me wrong; there is a lot of joy in the occasion – but you quickly find that everything you hold dear in this life is waiting on an outcome that you have no control over. With our first birth, my wife and son, only by the Grace of God, just made it. Nothing in that experience went as planned. With our second child, we had the exact opposite happen. Both times being informed of the birthing process, understanding what to expect, and understanding our rights as patients and parents was very important. Being an informed husband, coach, and soon to be dad to help feel confident about making the right decisions was critical.
My wife and I chose to share the birthing experience of our second child with Alyssa because we trusted her. We knew that her presence, and her guidance, would give us more confidence in what was an unknown step of faith. For me, as the coach and husband, I felt comfortable having an experienced advisor there to help me watch over what was going on in the delivery room. I needed to attend to my wife, and with Alyssa’s refresher course weeks before, I felt better knowing what to expect, but from our son’s first birth, I was also anxious knowing that anything could happen. Alyssa – reminding me of my cues, on how to care for my wife, and her having a clear head about what was going on in the delivery room, especially when I was focused on my wife – supplied me direction and confidence in a hectic time. She was very respectful of our wishes and privacy, and did everything she could to ensure that we received the experience we had planned on. I am very grateful she was there to help us and be a part of the joyous delivery of our daughter.”

“After a remarkably traumatic birth with my first child (I suffered a rare Amniotic Fluid Embolism), my husband and I were very aware of our need for support for the birth of our second child.
Delivering at a birthing center was not an option for us, given my history — but we still very much wanted a natural, intervention free delivery if at all possible. I truly believe that Alyssa helped make that happen!
We had taken The Bradley Method® course with our first pregnancy, but Alyssa gave us a very helpful “crash course” a few weeks before our second delivery. That session gave me confidence in my ability to have a baby naturally.
She was also the second person I told when I went into labor (after my husband, of course). She met us at the front entrance of the hospital and guided me through the entire process.
I cannot tell you what an amazing resource and source of comfort and encouragement she was throughout the labor and delivery of my daughter. She gave me continued support, asked the doctors and nurses the right questions when I was in “business mode,” and even took pictures of our daughter’s first moments of life outside the womb. When I felt like I couldn’t handle it, she gave me new positions to try and talked me through. I am convinced that her presence was a huge factor in having the most amazing birth I can imagine.
My daughter was born naturally, “in the caul,” with absolutely NO interventions. What an amazing experience after our first delivery. I am so thankful that Alyssa was there — it wouldn’t have been the same without her!”

“We are so incredibly thankful for Alyssa and her wisdom throughout the Bradley Method® course. My husband and I had many friends who had children and had gone through labor naturally, or with drugs, or through a cesarean, etc., and we thought we “knew” enough to get by – boy, are we glad we took the class! The course not only goes through the stages of birth, but it also discusses other practicals like nutrition, the need for rest, as well as something we valued – positions for rest before and during labor.
Because of all of the information and guidance we received from Alyssa, we were able to endure a water-birth at our desired place of birth, a birthing center with our midwife. My body went through a long plateau during labor: my bag of waters was “blocking” my cervix from dilating, so even though my cervix was 100% effaced and my son was at station 1 (almost ready to be pushed) 12 hours before he arrived, there was not much progress for about 5-6 hours. Without knowing that natural plateau can occur or the coaching tips for my husband when I could not verbalize what I was feeling, we know for certain that we would not have had our son the way we desired. Both my husband and I implore you to take the Bradley course – we promise, it will be worth the while.”

“I had never heard of the Bradley Method before, but we did know that we wanted to have a natural childbirth and were not prepared for it. After my friend suggested Bradley and I did some research, I knew that it would be helpful for us. The only time I have ever seen my husband frustrated is when he feels like we did not prepare well for something, so I figured that the Bradley class would help him to feel more prepared. Little did I know that I would need the preparation just as much, if not more, than he did!
The Bradley class did an amazing job of preparing us for any and every birth situation. Alyssa did a great job of communicating and presenting the information from each lesson. She is very knowledgeable and also very approachable with all the questions that we had. Before I started the classes I was having a lot of back pain. As I started doing the recommended exercises, my back pain disappeared and I was much more comfortable for the rest of my pregnancy.
In class we learned so much about the process of labor and what signs to look for. We also practiced relaxation techniques, and one of my favorite things was the labor rehearsals. We both approached our due date with confidence instead of fear. Our labor started and we had lots of opportunities to use the things we had been practicing. About 30 hours into it we were wondering how much longer it could last and Alyssa was a huge source of encouragement and a great resource to help us through all the way until the 59th hour when our precious baby girl was finally born naturally and without the assistance of any medication!
I’m positive that we would not have met this goal if we had not taken the Bradley course. I would recommend that anyone who is pregnant take the Bradley class with Alyssa!”

“When we found out that we were pregnant, we knew that we wanted to try to deliver our baby naturally but we really didn’t have a plan. My wife was able to speak to one of her friends about the Bradley Method. After doing some research it sounded like it was really a good opportunity to get some training and increase our chances of giving birth naturally. When I found out the details I was somewhat hesitant about the idea of 12 weeks of classes and the cost associated with it. It seemed like a really big commitment and I didn’t know if it was completely necessary. But as I was talking it over with my wife, she said that she felt she would be screaming “We should have done the Bradley class!” during the delivery if we didn’t take the class. So with that in mind, and also thinking that the birth of our first child is very important and deserved as much effort as possible, we signed up for the class.
I found the classes to be very helpful. It taught us information about not only labor and delivery but also about pregnancy, the different stages of labor, what we could expect, and how to deal with different aches and pains and issues that came up. All this information really empowered us to have a smoother pregnancy & a successful delivery. Alyssa did a great job of making us feel comfortable in answering any questions that we had no matter how simple or basic.
As the husband, your role is very crucial to the success of the labor and delivery. I am so thankful for this training and for the part that I got to play in my child’s birth. I felt empowered to help my child and my wife have a successful labor and delivery. It was great that Alyssa was available not only during the classes but any other time that we needed her, we felt free to give her an email or a call. That came into play big time during our 3 day labor!
I can say without hesitation that without the Bradley Method and Alyssa, we would not have been able to have a natural unmedicated birth, and for that we are truly thankful that we took this course.”
